How To: Add Hardware description

Adding a hardware description in The Boring Toolbox helps communicate detailed information about each hardware to your teammates or allows you to remember important details like switch information or what maintenance you have performed. Follow the steps below to add or update hardware descriptions:

Steps to Add Hardware Description

1. Navigate to Hardware Management
   
   
   • Once logged in, select the "Hardware" option from the navigation menu.
     
     
     
2. Select the Hardware
   
   
   • On the Hardware page, expand the server to locate the hardware you want to add a description to.
     
   • Click on the specific hardware row to open its details drawer.
     
     
     
3. Add Hardware Description
   
   
   • After clicking the hardware row, a hardware details drawer will open on the right side of the page.
     
   • In the Hardware details drawer, find the "DESCRIPTION" section.
     
   • Click on the field to add or update the description.
     
     
4. Enter Relevant Information
   
   
   • Switch number and port
   • Maintenance performed
   • ETC
     
     
5. Save Changes
   
   
   • After entering the description and any additional details, click the “SAVE” button to update/add the hardware information.
