How To: Disable/Enable the Device

Disabling a device can aid in effective management and troubleshooting by isolating issues or temporarily removing access. Follow these steps to disable a device in The Boring Toolbox.

Steps to Disable a Device

1. Navigate to Devices:
   
   
   • Once logged in, select the "Hardware" option from the navigation menu.
     
     
     
2. Select the Device:
   
   
   • On the Hardware page, expand the server and hardware to locate the device you want to disable.
     
     
     
     
   • Select the device you want to disable
     
     
     
3. Disable the Device:
   
   
   • After selecting the device, look for a "Status" option in the floating menu.
   • Click on "Status" and then select the "Disable" button near the “Device Status”
     
   • Confirm the action by clicking "YES, DISABLE" in the confirmation modal.
     
     
     
4. Verify the Disabled Status:
   
   
   • After disabling, check the “Status” column near the device in the list (ensure no filter is applied).
   • Look for a label showing that the device is in a “Disabled” state.

Enabling Device in The Boring Toolbox

 Enabling a device restores its functionality, making it operational again when needed. Follow these steps to enable a device in The Boring Toolbox

Steps to Enable a Device

1. Navigate to Devices:
   
   
   • Once logged in, select the "Hardware" option from the navigation menu.
     
     
     
2. Select the Device:
   • On the Hardware page, expand the server and hardware to locate the device you want to enable.
     
     
   • Select the device you want to enable. If you do not see the device listed, you may have a filter applied to hide all disabled devices.  Remove the filter, and it should appear.
     
     
3. Enable the Device:
   
   
   • After selecting the device, look for a "Status" option in the floating menu.
   • Click on "Status" and then select the "Enable" button near the “Device Status” 
     
   • Confirm the action by clicking "YES, ENABLE" in the confirmation modal.
     
     
     
4. Verify the Enabled Status:
   
   
   • After enabling, check the “Status” column near the device in the list.
