How to: Activate Boring Users

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for activating Boring Users within the Boring Toolbox application. Boring Users are managed independently from Milestone users and allow for enhanced access control and administrative features. Activating Boring Users enables direct login and user management capabilities through the Boring Toolbox.

Steps to Activate Boring Users

1. Log in to the Site

• Log in to the site where Boring Users are currently disabled.

2. Navigate to the Settings Page

• From the main menu, go to Settings.
  
  

3. Select the "Authentication" Option

• Click on Authentication to access authentication settings.
  
  

4. View Authentication Settings

You will see two sections:

• Milestone Users — Status: Active
• Boring Users — Status: Recommended
  
  

5. Activate Boring Users

• In the Boring Users section, click the ACTIVATE button.
  
  

6. Configure Boring Users

• The Boring User Configuration modal will open on the right side of the screen.
  
  

Step 1: Management Server Address

• You can use the Suggested Management Server Address or select Custom to enter your own.
  
  
• If using a Custom address:
  
  
  • Enter a valid server address.
    
    
  • Click the VERIFY button.
    
    
  • Once verified, the button will change to VERIFIED in green.
    
    
  • To remove the server address, click the Trash icon.
    
    

Step 2: Administrator Account Configuration

• Configure the initial admin account for Boring User login.
• You can disable the default account by toggling off the switch next to VERIFIED.
  
  
• Enter a secondary email address in the Email Address field.
• Click VERIFY, then enter the BL_code sent to the provided email.
  (Alternatively, you can skip verification by clicking Skip Verification.)
  
  
  
  
• After verification, click ACTIVATE.
  
  

7. Confirm Activation

• A confirmation modal will appear. Click YES, ACTIVATE.
  
  
• A loading indicator will display while the process completes.
• Upon success, a Congratulations page will appear.
  
  

8. Accept User Invitation

• The invited user will receive an email with a Join Account button.
• Clicking the Join Account button will:
  
  
  • Activate the Boring User account.
  • Redirect the user to the Boring Toolbox homepage.

9. Verify Activation and Manage User

• Navigate to the Authentication page again.
  
• Confirm that the Boring Users section is now highlighted and shows an Active status.
  
  

Click the Manage Boring Users button to access and manage Boring User profiles.
