In the Boring Toolbox, you can toggle between using Boring Users (local authentication) and Milestone Users (authentication via Milestone XProtect). If you no longer want to use Boring Users and prefer to manage authentication through Milestone, follow the steps below to deactivate Boring Users. This process ensures that only Milestone-based authentication is enabled and active for your site.
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for deactivating Boring Users within the Boring Toolbox application.
Steps to Deactivate Boring Users
1. Log in to the Site
- Log in to the site where Boring Users are currently active.
2. Navigate to the Settings Page
- From the main menu, go to Settings.
3. Open the Authentication Settings
- Click on Authentication to access the authentication configuration page.
4. View Authentication Status
- You will see two sections:
- Milestone Users
- Boring Users — Status: Active
5. Deactivate Boring Users
- In the Boring Users section, click the DEACTIVATE button.
6. Confirm Deactivation
- A Deactivate Boring Users modal will appear on the right side of the screen
- Check the confirmation checkbox in the modal.
- Click the DEACTIVATE button.
- A loading indicator will display while the process completes.
- Check the confirmation checkbox in the modal.
7. Verify Deactivation
- Once complete:
- A Boring Users Deactivated confirmation modal will appear.
- The site will automatically reload and logged out
- A Boring Users Deactivated confirmation modal will appear.
8. Confirm Status Change
- Log in to the site again
- Return to the Authentication page to confirm that:
- The Milestone Users section is now highlighted.
- The Boring Users status is shown as RECOMENDED
