Auto Device Groups

Auto groups are device groups automatically created by a template. These are useful because in Milestone XProtect management client you are able to make bulk changes to devices when they are in a group and even more so when they are all the same device.

Built into The Boring Toolbox we have three auto-device group templates.

Camera Model:
This template will automatically generate device groups based on the model number discovered by Milestone when you added the camera to the management server. This is useful if you want to change device specific settings in bulk like codec, frame rate, resolution, etc.  You can filter the results by recording server if you only need a subset for maintenance.

Camera Model + Product ID:
Using this template you will get the camera model and the device driver used in Milestone.  This is good if you want to be even more granular with your groups.

Storage Name:
This is a very powerful template which allows you to quickly build device groups based on the cameras being recorded in each storage configurations per each recording sever. Once the devices are in a group you are able to move them all to a different storage configuration on the same recording server, stop recording of those cameras, etc.
